I want to have an Occupational Health Assessment because I am still working as much as I can but usually overdo it. I have had a quote from a company that will do this and the follow-up for £250, Does anyone know whether this is the going rate?

My company has been 100% supportive and very understanding so I will try and avoid asking for them to pay for the assessment and pay for it myself.

I have Segmental Dystonia, only being diagnosed at the end of January this year so am trying to make the adjustments to cope with this and being my own worst enemy at the moment.

Hi Barry
Are you aware of Occupational therapists?
They are available on the NHS for free via referral from your GP, specialist or physiotherapy. I have been visited at home and at work and they then make suggestions of ways to cope better. Giving help around managing fatigue and pain in practical ways. Extremely helpful I have found them.
Occupational Health assessments that you mentioned are usually requested by employers themselves if they feel they need help in assessing and supporting you. Companies pay usually and doctor reports back to them.
From what you have said, it's occupational therapy that will provide the service you ate looking for, for you on your terms. They don't have to visit you at work you can just explain things if you prefer. They will feedback to you and you can decide/discuss with them what info is best shared with your employer and how best to ask for any additional support you need. They may suggest asking for Occupational Health assessment from your employer but usually your would only be asking for this as am employee if you felt they weren't being supportive and understanding of your situation. Occupational therapy keeps you in control of your situation and is confidential. I'm my view the best first step for you.

I have found Aaampatgmaj therapy very helpful because it's personalised and practical suggestions. I have continued to work full time - just about.

All the best.

Thanks Cat

It looks like good advice. I will go and see my GP and ask to be referred to an Occupational Therapist.
Is Aaampatgmaj therapy a typo or is it just the first word in the dictionary?

Thanks for your message. It would be good to know how you get on if you are willing and comfortable posting an update in due course.

Is there a particular question you wanted to ask everyone on here in the meantime?

Sorry about my typos, I was rushing to reply before work :)
